Dayton government schools ratify teacher contract

Dayton [government] school teachers have a new contract. The school board ratified a new contract Thursday evening with the Dayton Education Association. The contract is for 43 months effective December 21, 2013, through June 30, 2017. Newly elected School Board President Dr. Robert Walker says the agreement incorporates recommendations from the National Council on Teacher Quality, establishes a compensation committee that ties salary to student performance and expands the responsibilities of the local professional development committee to make recommendations about tenure, building performance and continuing contracts.
