Ohio substitute teacher banned from school; Teacher lured students into Nigerian scam, made creepy comments

A substitute teacher who reportedly told students he was caught up in a Nigerian phone scam and needed them to give him $100 was escorted out of Fairfield Middle School and banned from subbing in Butler and Warren counties. Jay Deutsch also told a female student she was beautiful in a disturbing way, the Fairfield City Schools district said.

Deutsch was supposed to be teaching a gifted social studies class on March 7, but he didn’t follow the lesson plan and made several odd comments to students, the district said. Students in his first-period class complained to another teacher, who listened in on Deutsch’s class. That teacher considered some of his comments unprofessional and notified administrators.
