Government school district prepares to track students’ social media activity
This is scary, plain and simple. If we had placed our kids in government school, we wouldn’t provide the social media accounts – because it is no business of the school.
They said in the article that two words — bomb and kill — would be a trigger to send a text message to the principal. What if a kid wrote that their team killed their opponents. Would they freak out over them using the word? What about if someone sees someone else and likes how they look, would them saying that “they’re the bomb” generate a text message for this one? Sorry, this is a bad idea which is an invasion of privacy. Big Brother is alive and well in government schools.
