Columbus government schools data-rigging helped secure bonuses

Almost 600 Columbus City Schools employees received bonuses totaling $390,000 for academic gains that were fabricated by data-rigging, according to a Dispatch analysis of the corrected state report cards made public yesterday.

One-third of the Columbus schools that received bonuses for their gains in the 2010-11 school year shouldn’t have received them, under the district’s rules. Principals who oversaw data reporting at those schools were given the top payouts of $3,000 each.
